
Emma Whitla is a translator, teacher, performer, language lover, and uninvited guest working mostly on the land known colonially as Toronto. Emma speaks and writes with high proficiency in Spanish and English. In 2023 she graduated from York University’s Dance department with a certificate in Spanish/English translation. Over the years she’s worked with Northern Harmony, Danza Espiral, Free Flow Dance Theatre, Máchari, Guetcha Guaritcha, and Harmonious Accord, and has taught and performed internationally. Emma (a.k.a. EmmaSo) loves to mend clothing, work collaboratively, and help others find their voices. Most recently she trained in revision, project management, terminology, documentation, and education. She works as a caregiver, translator, and artist.
